Witch Hat Cupcakes
You will need the following ingredients to make witch hat cupcakes:
Chocolate or vanilla cupcakes
Red and yellow food coloring
1 round chocolate cookie (such as chocolate wafer cookie)
1 Hershey kiss
Orange gel icing
Orange sprinkles or colored sugar
Make the orange icing: Put 2 drops of red food coloring and 4 drops of yellow food coloring into a bowl of white icing. Mix until it becomes orange.
Spread a generous amount of orange icing on the cupcakes. Make sure there is plenty of icing. That is the glue that holds the witch hat to the cupcakes.
Make the Witch Hat
Place a drop of orange gel icing in the center of the chocolate cookie. Press the Hershey kiss on top of the icing to make the witch hat.
To decorate the witch hat, put a dab of orange gel icing on the tip of the Hershey kiss.
Sprinkle orange sugar over the witch hat, allowing it to stick to the tip where the gel icing is, and fall onto the brim of the witch hat.
Press the witch hat onto the cupcake at a slight angle, making sure it is secure.
You will need the following ingredients to make tombstone cupcakes:
Chocolate or vanilla cupcakes
Black gel icing
To make the tombstone, cut the bottom off the Milano cookie to make it straight.
Using the black gel icing, write, "RIP" across the top of the Milano cookie.
Frost the cupcakes generously with the chocolate icing. You will need a lot of frosting, so that the tombstone sticks in place. Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles over the frosting to represent dirt in the graveyard.
Place the tombstone into the cupcake, pressing down firmly, but gently, to make sure it is secure.
Sushi Candy Makes the Perfect Halloween Rice Crispy Treats
Candy sushi is fun for kids to make and eat. And this sushi candy recipe is ideal for Halloween. Rice crispy treats form the basis for this candy sushi. Candy corn and chocolate wafer candy (such as Kit Kat bars) make the filling for these Halloween rice crispy treats. And fruit roll-ups make the "seaweed" for these Halloween candy sushi rolls.
3 Tbsp. butter
4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)
chocolate wafer candy bars (such as Kit Kats)
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Make the rice crispy treats portion of this candy sushi first: Heat butter in a large (5-quart) saucepan over low heat. Spray a silicone spatula (compare prices) or a regular spatula with nonstick cooking spray. Add marshmallows, and stir continuously until marshmallows are completely melted.
Stir in cereal until cereal is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture. Spread rice crispy mixture on prepared parchment paper into an even rectangle, about 1/2-inch thick. Let cool completely.
Trim edges of rice crispy treat mixture to make a rectangle with straight lines. Turn rectangle so the short end is facing you. Break apart Kit Kat bars and line up in a single horizontal line along one end of the rice crispy treats rectangle, leaving a border of about 1 inch at the end toward you. Place candy corn in a single line next to the Kit Kat bars.
Using the parchment paper to help you if needed, fold the short end of the rice crispy treats mixture over the candy corn -- roll over just once -- and press together with your hands to make the sushi roll firm. Trim with a sharp knife to make a nice, neat candy sushi roll.
Wrap fruit roll-ups around the candy sushi roll. Using a sharp knife, cut into 1-inch sushi candy pieces. Repeat with remaining rice crispy treat mixture and candy
